During 2021, Mexico held its largest elections in history; encompassing state congress, town halls, gubernatorial elections, amongst others. Due to the size of the elections, Código Magenta assembled a series of explainer videos covering the context surrounding each governor race. The objective for this project was to make short, clear and concise videos.
I was in charge of developing the visual identity of this series. While there was a lot of inspiration available from the recent US 2020 elections, the Mexican midterms had the unique challenge of having to deal with at least 6 different candidates from different parties in every race. Consequently, we chose a neutral color palette to maintain impartiality when presenting the information.
Considering that we were dealing with gubernatorial races for more than ten different states, we established a system of simple motion graphics that was easy to modify. We broke down the video in three parts: the keys of the election, the candidates and the polls. This method granted us the opportunity to start working on each video’s design elements in advance, speeding up the process.
