Case study: Código Magenta

Código Magenta is an entirely digital media company based in Monterrey, Nuevo León; specialized in political analysis.
As a team we have a grasp of our users interests, needs and expectations. But we lack a deep understanding and a common set of priorities.

How do users inform themselves about news?
  • Users search for clear and concise information.
  • There’s a deep distrust of media.
  • They feel overwhelmed by the amount of information going around.
How can we make our news stories reach people?

Our priorities while examining possible solutions were the following:

  • Flexible and current formats
  • Improve readability and accessibility
  • Visual consistency
Prototype
  • For this first round of prototypes we focused on keeping the lead video at the beginning of the website.
  • However, we reduced its size, so that users can scan quickly the different options.
  • We removed redundant buttons, leaving more space for news articles.
