In the current political context, International Women’s Day has become one of the most important days for Latin American media companies to cover. To highlight the importance of this day and the news that come with it, Código Magenta asked for a special branding that reflects the current feminist movement and shows their support to the cause.
To convey the spirit of unrest among women, we took inspiration from the posters, signs and badges that can be seen in marches. We wanted a loud and disruptive look, with different shades of purple as our main color.
This style inspired by the streets and the language of protest allowed us to play with the design ideas of some products. For example, we asked our community through instagram stories to share with us the reasons why they considered themselves a part of the movement in 2021. We took those messages and placed them on the walls that surrounded the National Palace that year.
After we established this style for IWD 2021, we decided to keep a similar style for the daily content related to the feminist movement. Modern and loud, with purple and green as the main colors.
For IWD 2022, we kept some elements like the fist and a purple color palette; but updated to a cleaner look so it would be consistent with the rest of Código Magenta’s current branding.
